TWO BRONZE MEDALS AT THE 23rd INTERNATIONAL TOURNEMENT GENOA, CITY OF COLOMBUS

Saturday 16th and sunday 17th of April, at the Palasport of Genoa, took place the 23rd edition of the “ International Tournement of Genoa the city of Colombus”. The tournement qualified as “Gran Prix Tournement“ valid for the “ Senior and Juniors, saw taking to the field over 1450 athlets taking to the field during the two days competition. The athlets came from everywhere in Italy and from many European Nations.
The kodokan Judo Cecina headed by the Master Renato Cantini, won two Bronze Medals with the athlets Valentina Keser and Lorella Frasca , “under 20” category.
The first Bronze medal was awarded to Lorella Frasca 44 Kg. Soon after, the second Bronze Medal was assigned tanks to the excellent performance of Valentina who, along with a series of combats won before the limit ( one of each so much as, against the italian champion in power for the 2011 ) arrived to the semifinal. Here, a distraction barred her road to the final, but she redeemed herself quickly winning the bronze in the catch ups round. A scado fell on the match of the athlets Benedetta Capponi and Emily Musumeci who for the same category, did not pass beyond the first combat.
The afternoon, was the turn of the “ES-B “ taking to the field Marco Cavallini, 40 Kg and Xuela Douglas, 57 Kg.
Good performance for Marco who gained an excellent fifth place, the red-blu athlet gots to the semifinal after winning three combats before the limit, but in the semifinal he surrendered to his opponent and the same fate happened to him on the final, for the 3rd and 5th place .
For Xuela the match begun rather uphills because she was unable to back on 52 Kg.
The 57 Kg showed a category out of her hand, she lost the first match, unluckly, she was not pulled up.
Sunday, the classes of “ Cadets” returned on the field. Here, althought the talent of the Cecinesi athtlets, the results were not what was expected. Pietro Graziani, Giacomo Santini and Giulia Di Maio , sharing the same fate, were not able to continue the tournement and stopped on the first combat.
In the afternoon, was the turn of “ES- A “ all of them playing their first match of international level.
Giacomo Michelacci 45 Kg and Nico Panzanera 50 Kg lost their first combat and were not pulled up.
Same fate also for Marco Marrucci , Gianmarco Douglas and Dario Summa. They lost their first combat too, but cought up again, disputed the round of replay. However, Marco was stopped at the first round, Douglas and Summa, won both and got to the final at the 3° and 5° place . Unfortunantly, the emotion played a nasty trick and both stopped right at the feet of the the podium.
